NEWS FROM HPO IN FIJI

Sorry for my lack of response over the last few of years.  Have just recently received the Little Ships winter addition.

Have just been super busy for several months selling a business and our large yacht.  However, all done and dusted now and have a lot more time to do things for myself.

We have just been through the largest cyclone the South Pacific has ever had “Cyclone Winston” with wind speeds of over 350 km. with a lot of damage.   Savusavu Marina (www.coprashed.com) ( most of your cruising folk will know the area), a large number of yachts were damaged or swept ashore.  Most have been refloated.

Port Denarau Marina  www.portdenaraumarina  is back up and running.  It is hosting the Auckland (NZ) Denarau race in June 16 plus a regatta of the Sydney  18 footer worlds end of June.  The marina hopes to have an additional  25 new berths by the middle of this year.  Musket Cove Yacht Club is back up and running all swing moorings, dockside piers all ok – as is the famous ”Island bar” all ready for the 2016 season which opens in April.

All details to contact me are as printed in the Winter 2015 magazine.   Let me know of expected yachts coming through Fiji and if they need any assistance.  Lesley  and I have been in Fiji for over 40 years and so know how things operate in Fiji pretty well.

Regards to Commodore Michael Forbes Smith

Kind regards

Bruce Phillips
