Open Evening and Talk: Circumnavigating in Bagheera

Tue, 26/09/2017 - 19:00

In thinking about Bagheera's 2017 cruise, it occurred to Club member David Clements that the only stretch of the British coastline that he hadn't sailed in his Bowman 40 was from Ramsgate to Inverness. It seemed time that this was remedied but of course it meant getting there and back from Dartmouth and so the cruise became a circumnavigation. David's talk will cover the trip as it unfolded.

The project took almost a year to complete and included three months at sea on the support ship, following the nine man crew on their 4000 mile voyage.

Sophie will explain the many challenges faced by the crew in recreating this extreme and dangerous voyage and how it was captured for television in sometimes the most inhospitable filming conditions.
