Frostbite Rally and First Fast Cruise - 14 October 2017 - RORC, Cowes

The Little Ship Club is continuing its tradition in 2017 of holding the south coast end of season dinner at one of the premier Cowes yacht clubs.  This year it is being held at the Isle of Wight clubhouse of the Royal Ocean Racing Club (formerly the Royal Corinthian YC).

In addition to marking the end of the traditional sailing season we will also have the first Fast Cruise of the 2017/18 winter season.

Berths have been reserved at Cowes Yacht Haven for those attending by boat. Please call CH 80 upon arrival. Skippers will be responsible for paying their own mooring fees. Do ask for the 10% rally discount.

Rally details:

Can’t make it to the Caribbean? Don’t worry! The Caribbean is coming to Cowes for the Little Ship Club.

We’ll be setting the tone with a rum punch and music in the marina upon arrival, with dancing to the steel pan musicians after dinner at the RORC clubhouse.

The First Fast Cruise will be finishing in Cowes in time to enjoy the rum punch at the pontoon party. The sailing course has now been published (see separate page) http://littleshipclub.co.uk/news/fast-cruise-1-course-14-october-2017

Possible Visit to the Acorn Brewery in Gosport on Friday, 13 October:

"If you'd like to gather at the Fallen Acorn Brewery in Gosport on the evening of Friday 13 October, before embarking on the Frostbite Rally on Saturday 14 October, let me know (Mark Turvey; 07815 807685; mark@markturvey.com).

The brewery runs a tap room on a Friday evening.  If there are enough people to make up a little party, I will ask Ed Anderson, the brewer, to chat about his beers briefly and point out what's what in the brewery.  As it's a micro-brewery, the tour can be conducted standing still, next to a barrel of something drinkable: all the vessels can be pointed out from one spot.

Although the brewery is in an industrial unit, not a picturesque 19th century listed building, Fallen Acorn's Hole Hearted, Black Hearted, Expedition IPA and Pot Kettle Porter are worth the visit to Clarence Wharf.  Hole Hearted, originally brewed for the Hole in the Wall pub in Portsmouth, was the Hampshire Beer of the Year for 5 years running"
