An international fleet of tall ships takes over Royal Greenwich for Tall Ships Royal Greenwich 2017, the first event of the Rendezvous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta. This event will offer a fantastic opportunity for visitors to step aboard many beautiful tall ships from across the world while thousands of crew members meet and compete with their counterparts, bringing international friendship and culture to the forefront of what is sure to be an event like no other.
The ships will be anchored in the Thames alongside two Tall Ships festival villages. These will be located at the Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site in Greenwich town centre, and the Royal Arsenal riverside in Woolwich.
Some ships will be open for visitors to get on board to look around and talk to the crew.
1.1 million visitors to the 2014 edition can’t have been wrong and it’s not just the tall ships on the water we recommend, as this event is of course blessed to be held in the presence of the worlds most famous Tea Clipper, the Cutty Sark.
From Greenwich the ships will race South to Sines in Portugal before crossing the atlantic to Bermuda. From there they’ll race north, meeting the TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® Atlantic Coast 2017 fleet in Boston before continuing on to events in Quebec City and Halifax. The Regatta fleet will then race back to Europe for the finale event in Le Havre, France.
There are also still opportunities for taking part! Find out more HERE
