This course is divided into two logical halves: on the one hand, generating or acquiring electrical energy and storing it; on the other hand, using that energy in a boat’s systems. Along the way, optimising the use of a scarce resource at sea and avoiding corrosion are covered. Included in the cost of the course is a copy of the RYA’s book Boat Electrics. No previous knowledge of physics or electrical theory is required.
The course runs for a total of four hours, spread over two weekday evenings. The course is presently run by former professional electrical engineers who worked for the BBC and BT, one of whom was responsible for the refurbishment of the electrical systems in Sir Robin Knox-Johnston’s boat Suhaili.
The next course will run on 15 & 22 November 2017. Online booking will be available shortly. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any queries.
