Practical Weather Forecasting

This is a recently-developed course aimed at combining traditional techniques with the latest technology-based sources of information.

The objects are to give sailors a way of evaluating professional forecasts, to produce forecasts themselves, increase both the safety and enjoyment of sailing and derive satisfaction and confidence from a measure of independence. Participants are given an exclusive “Met Officer’s Toolkit” which contains a uniquely-comprehensive handbook, blank weather charts and information sheets specially drawn for Club members and detailed regional information on the sailing areas of main interest.

The accompanying presentation takes place over two weekday evenings of three hours each, with the time between used for a weather chart-drawing exercise; the overall cost is less than that of a single volume of Admiralty Sailing Directions.

The next course will be run on Wednesday 27th September and 4th October 2017 from 18:00 to 21:00.

Cost: members £60 and non-members £75  Online booking will be open soon.
