'Sheemaun' is a 15 metre historic G L Watson 1930's Gentleman's Motor Yacht based in Ramsgate(not coded) with auxiliary gaff ketch rig and square'sl. Registered National Historic Vessel No 1939 and FLAGSHIP of the UK NATIONAL HISTORIC FLEET 2010  View a gallery of picture of Sheemaun's 2009 & 2010 seasons here.

'Sheemaun' served with the Royal Navy as HMY Sheeman throughout WW2 as a Thames Patrol boat armed with two Hotchkiss heavy machine guns, range 4,500 yds, armour piercing and capable of taking out a light tank or piercing the hull of a uboat!. Later she was the private Yacht of Admiral G T S Gray CB.DSC. And then Training Ship to Pangbourne Nautical College under Lt Cmdr Ian Pearson.

Now fully equipped and sea-worthy, 2 Beta marine 75 hp diesels new May 2009. 800 sq ft of sail. Full modern electronics, AIS B & radar. Inside & outside helming. 2 crew berths in foc'sl, two berths in owner's Stateroom, 1 berth in separate crew cabin. Saloon seats 8. Eberspacher heating. Hot & cold running water. Well equipped galley & micro-wave. 3.5 kW generator. We carry a 4 man (2.6m) Zodiac + outboard for excursions and exploring.  The foredeck takes two liner deck chairs for luxuriating and the afterdeck takes eight director's chairs for entertaining and eating al fresco in port.

Skipper Dr Rodney Pell welcomes fellow LCS members to 'Sheemaun' who must be reasonably able-bodied and at or close to Competent Crew level, who might like to 'learn the ropes' climb the ratlines, set a sq'sl, scrub decks, find some moules et frites etc.

                    2012 CRUISE PROGRAM

1 Attendance at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant - Sheemaun will be in the 'Avenue of Sail'  2-4 June and will otherwise be berthed at St Katherines Dock 26th May - 10th June.

2  Cruise 30th June to circa 2nd week August.  Depart Ramsgate in direction of Brest (weather permitting) forn the Brest and Duarnanez festivals then rfeturn Ramsgate.  One berth available for the outward leg and possibly two berths for the return leg.

Ideally the ship runs well with Skipper + 3 Crew. One crew can have a single cabin and two crew can share the foc'sl cabin where there are 2 bunk berths.  Sheemaun is non-smoking, footwear which marks the white anti-slip decks will be impounded or float-tested!  A 4th crew member can be accommodated in the saloon where it is comfortable but is necessarily a bit public.

As 2010 Flagship of the United Kngdom Historic Fleet Sheemaun represents the National Historic Ships,  Crew dress rig at Historic Maritime Festivals is 1930s style - enjoy.

I am retired and so cruising programmes can to a large degree be adapted according to crew availability, weather and whim but remember that small boat cruising and calender deadlines do not combine well!  I expect crew to get themselves to and from Ramsgate and to fair share with fuel & food costs. 'Sheemaun' when motoring works out at about £1.80 /hr/ per person for diesel if shared 4 ways but when the wind and tide is fair we switch off the engines and sail!

Do contact me with ideas and suggestions.

 Yours Aye,

 Rodney Pell
