Ronhilda had an great Rally to the Scilly's. We got there via Brixham, Sutton Harbour ( Plymouth), Fowey via Polperro for lunch time stop and swimming behind the yacht under spinny at 2 knots, Falmouth via Helford river and Gweek, changin crew and finally after an excellent meal at the NMM straight to Tresco on the Sunday.
Although lightish winds all the way down we did manage to sail every day except going to Tresco where the wind was just too far on the nose and the skipper wanted to see the islands in the evening sunlight. Tresco harbour turned out to be very sheltered for the swell so we did not move and visited Bryher, Tresco Gardens and Island and the crew went to St Marys by Ferry.
The forecast turned adverse so we cleared out at 4am on Wednesday and motorsailed to the Lizard when we got the spinny out and enjoyed the days sunshine past Fowey and Plymouth calling it a day at Dartmouth at midnight. A day off in Dartmouth for train rides and crew dinner saw us leave early the day at 6am for another light wind motor and spinny day to end up with fantastic sunset over Hurst at Yarmouth.
Final spinny thorugh the solent saw us back in Chichester midday on the Saturday. All in all an execellent Rally thank you David. Highlights were the wildlife in the form of Basking Sharks, Porpoises, Dolphins, Jellyfish, Gannets etc and some very funny VHF transmissions during the week including using one about using deadly force from our Greyfunnel line and a sharp retort from Falmouth Coastguard to check transmission channels after they sheepishly admitted they had transmitted on he wrong channel.
