Training

The Club is an RYA Training Centre and we deliver all our RYA shorebased courses in the comfort of our Bell Wharf Lane Clubhouse.

RYA Shorebased Courses

Little Ship Club training benefits from a long history, and fantastic facilities to learn in. For those working in the city, our Day Skipper, Yachtmaster and Yachtmaster Ocean courses evening classes are conveniently held  at our Southwark Bridge clubhouse.

Long Courses

We run the Day Skipper and Yachtmaster courses twice a year. The first begins in late September and lasts until Easter. The second session is at a more accelerated pace, beginning in January but also finishing at Easter.

The Yachtmaster Ocean runs from September to Easter. All our navigation courses are open to members and non-members. Non-members  will receive membership of the club for the duration of the course. Further information is available from the office.

A training legacy

The Little Ship Club was proudly awarded it’s defaced blue ensign for it’s role in training the newly created Royal Naval Volunteer (Supplementary) Reserve just prior to World War Two.

One day courses

Little Ship Club also holds a variety of one-day training courses throughout the year, including First Aid, Diesel Engine maintenance, rope-work, Radar, Radio, and Boat Electrics. Dates for these courses are available from the office.
