Chichester Bar

We were glad it was closer to neaps than springs on the last Fast Cruise in March 2018. Although it was only a F2 the Bar was fully justifying the warnings in the Pilot books in a SE swell. The swell was not large but experience over 20 odd years sailing out of Chichester tells me never to underestimate this often benign but sometimes very nasty stretch of water. After turning west towards the Solent we were nearly rolling the gunwales in the water until the the Lee of the Isle of Wight gave some shelter.
