Traditional skills in boat building are being honed  at the International Boatbuilding Training College in Lowestoft. Trainees work on a wide variety of boats at different stages of construction in an atmosphere of a working boatyard, and graduates have gone on to manage yards all over the world. Director Mike Tupper will highlight the variety of boatbuilding/maintenance and woodworking courses suitable for both those looking for a career in the industry as well as individuals wanting to develop existing interests and skills or develop new ones.

The Inland Waterways Association was founded in 1946 to campaign for the use and retention of the UK Inland Waterways, many of which by then were falling into dereliction. Over recent years we have seen a regeneration of the canals and the IWA has been instrumental in bringing some 500 miles back to life. Roger Squires is the Secretary of the North & East London Branch of the IWA and will tell us about the work of the Association.

Come and grab some brilliant baubles before showing off your nautical knowledge!

Little Ship Club has lots of lovely Christmas decorations we no longer have use/space for – so they’re up for grabs! Boxes of Christmas decorations (lights, tinsel, baubles etc) will be in the foyer on Tuesday evening before the members' evening (the Nautical Quiz – there’s still time for some last-minute swotting up) and it’s first-come first-served. There won’t be any pricing but there will be an honesty plate for donations to LSC.
