An Old Salts’ lunch club for long-serving members of the Little Ship Club is being formed with a view to encouraging older members to resume their social activities and reconnect with old friends and associates to recall past times and exploits, and to re-establish contacts.

It is focused initially on those members with 25 years of membership of the Little Ship Club and the plan is to hold lunch meetings, initially on a twice-yearly basis, on the second Tuesday of the relevant month so that lunch attendees can stay on to meet up with other members in the evening.

The inaugural lunch is on Tuesday, April 12 and details of the menu and booking arrangements are below. 

Lunch menu

Starters: 

  1. Heritage tomato with buffalo mozzarella, Parma ham crisp and a balsamic dressing 
  2. Gin cured salmon, pickled cucumber, shallots and creme fraiche 
  3. Asparagus with soft poached quail's egg, shaved parmesan, and truffle dressing --V.

Mains: 

  1. Chicken breast, pan-fried gnocchi, peas a la paysanne, finished with a pancetta velouté 
  2. Roasted fillet of cod with confit Jersey Royal new potatoes, samphire and a lemon beurre blanc sauce 
  3. Wild mushroom and spinach strudel, pomme puree, tender stem broccoli, and mushroom velouté --V

Desserts:

  1. Chocolate boite, raspberry coulis, salted caramel, chocolate cremeux, and hazelnut crumb 
  2. Passionfruit and white chocolate cheesecake with orange sorbet 
  3. Seasonal fruit plate, edible flowers and raspberry coulis  --V

The price is £32.00 for two courses and £37.00 for three courses.  Bookings can be made via the website or using the attached flyer and will close on Tuesday 5th April at midday.
