'eXXpedition' pauses for a year: so what is happening in the meantime?

Nicola de Quincey was to have been telling us about her adventures this year sailing between Vanuatu and Cairns on a scientific voyage aiming to understand at first-hand what effect plastic pollution is having on the sea and the air.  Then came the Covid-19 crisis, so the all female yacht 'eXXpedition' is mothballed in the Pacific.  https://exxpedition.com/expedition/round-the-world/

She will update us on the voyage, discuss how there is chance to make changes on land and introduce the 'SHiFT' idea of alternatives to plastic products: https://shift.how/

Given recent reports of the increase of plastic in the Thames and the residue from PPE equipment, this is of very topical interest: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-53479635
