The Little Ship Club announces with regret the retirement of its President, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston CBE, RD after the Club's AGM in March 2016.
Sir Robin said, "After more than 20 years as President of the Little Ship Club, I feel it is now time for me to step aside and allow the Club to find a successor who will take it forward through its 90th year [this year] and give continuing support in the years ahead."
Sir Robin said the decision was not taken lightly, "My business activities, as chairman of Clipper Ventures plc, and my other commitments both in the UK and abroad are now occupying so much of my time that I am no longer able to give the level of support to the club that I would wish to give, and which the club has a right to expect.
"I have greatly enjoyed my time at the LSC and I have many valued friends among the members and I hope to continue my association as time permits."
LSC Commodore Mr Michael Forbes Smith said: "the Little Ship Club has been very fortunate and very proud to have had Sir Robin as its President for the past 20 years. He has been a distinguished, highly-regarded and valued President of the Little Ship Club ... His contribution to the success of the Little Ship Club cannot be underestimated. We look forward to welcoming him whenever he has the time to visit us in future years."
