Interactive presentation on Keel Failure
The Club Night on the 18th will include an Interactive Presentation looking at the ongoing study of keel attachment failure in yachts with Paul Mara from the RYA. The discussion will open with a very brief overview of the research, its aim and objective. What is currently known. You will be guided through a summary of the findings of a real investigation into a yacht’s keel attachment failure. Current techniques in identifying the warning signs. Finally, you will be provided with the opportunity to ask questions and contribute from your own experience.

Joint Lunch

Since September 2011 the City Livery Club has been very happily based at the Little Ship Club. Six years on from the first reception held here, the President of the City Livery Club and the Commodore of the Little Ship Club invite you to a joint luncheon to be held at the Club on Tuesday 19 September.
You will be invited to mingle with friends old and new, and we will be mixing up the tables so far as possible between the two Clubs’ members, so that members have a chance to get to know each other and find out more about each others’ interests and experiences.

Our after-dinner speaker will be Adam Tuffnell - a round-the-world yachtsman who uses his experience with the BT Global Challenge and background in Philosophy and Psychology to train leadership and survival skills.

Reflections of a circumnavigator, Speaker: Helen Jones

Helen left a career in the city in 2013, to set sail and circumnavigate the globe, in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. The 44,469-mile journey was an 11-month marathon. Fewer people have raced a yacht around the world than have climbed Mount Everest. In an environment both physically and mentally challenging, the crew dynamics on-board were a fascinating insight into the human psyche. Find out more about what it really takes to sail around the world.

Corinthian Rallies in USA and Europe.
The talk will revisit the the 2016 Channel Islands and other cruises with our American collegues, the Corinthians. In 2016 we started in Cherbourg, France, then the cruise visited most of the Channel Islands and we had a spectacular celebration at Castle Cornet, Guernsey, on the 4th July - we hired the whole castle!

Our first Open evening for new and prospective members following the London Boat Show. As well as Club Supper, we are also planning a Quiz Night hosted by the incomparable Pete Newbury; come and test your knowledge on a variety of subjects. The LSC Historic Croatia Rally September 2016, Speaker: Michael Forbes Smith
As part of the LSC 90th anniversary events, Commodore Michael Forbes Smith organised a rally to the Dalmatian islands of Hvar, Korčula, Lastovo and Vis, starting from the UNESCO heritage medieval town of Trogir, near Split. Come and revisit the splendours of medieval Dalmatia, the wonderful weather that blessed the rally, and the convivial atmosphere of the trip.
