HPO for Sicily and Lanzarote.

Here is the latest Report from our HPO Brian Gandey, Tortola, BVI, whose home and charter busines was totally devastated.

 Jonathn Le Feuvre has become our newest HPO for Lake Geneva, he is a member of the oldest sailing club in Switzerland -Societe Nautique Rollaise  (1880).  The club races every Wednesday during summer and should anyone be  holidaying in Switzerland and passing Lake Geneva, please make contact and share a glass of their local wines.

New HPO Bermuda

I have today appointed two new HPOs:

SINGAPORE & S.E. REGION   -  Daniel Whittington, LSC member

Daniel has had 7 years of refitting one yacht and is about to embark on another.  He can provide loads of advice on berthing in the region and achorages around the Riau Archipelagho and Tioman group.

So if you are visiting or holidaying in Singapore, do get in touch.

CALEDONIAN CANAL   -  Michael Salters, LSC member

Michael has a swinging mooring on the Caledonian Canal at the south end of Loch Ness near Fort Augustus - please remember to make advance contact. 

He also has another mooring on the canal which is not really 'tansferable' but should it be vacant it can be used for a 'transit stop'.  Again advance contact is necessary.

PLEASE NOTE -  Entrance to RIVER DEBEN, SUFFOLK changing - Jan 2017

Pick up OFFING BUOY and then BAR BUOY (shingle banks are often on the move).  There has been a fairly dramatic move of the N. shoal which has moved towards the Felixstowe shore. Channel takes craft fairly close up towards steep-to shore line which needs careful pilotage coming   IN/OUT   but with good depth.  Can alter with frequent storms.

Once passed this narrow section local  buoyage is little changed.   Bear in mind tides run fairly fast (wind over tide) not normally a wise time to experiment.

Foot passenger ferry runs daily twixt Bawdsey Quay and Quay by Felixstowe  Ferry Boatyard.
