If there is a requirement to create content and the "Create Content" is not visible then you need to contact the site administrator. 2: Use Event or Page ? An event is anything which will take place on a specific date. A page is to be used where the event criteria are not satisified. Depending on what permissions the site administrator has given you both event and page options may appear or perhaps just one of these. 3: Creating Events Click on create content then event. The URL in the address bar will now end in /node/add/event . Complete the following fields: a) Start Date: The first day on which the event occurs. b) End Date: Set this to be the same as the start date if the event finishes on the same day as the date input for the start date. c) All day: If the end date is after the start date tick this box. d) Title: The name of the event, this will be also the description that appears on the upcoming events on the home page and in the calendar. The title (without some common words) will be used to form the address/URL of the event page. e) Body: A description of the event. f) Event category: Choose the most appropriate category (only one can be chosen). The category chosen determines under which sub-menu option of Whats On (in the left menu bar) the event will appear. (Other fields/options may appear depending on permissions granted by the site administrator but this will be in exception rather than the rule. If they DO appear they can be ignored unless there is a specific requirement by you to use them.) Click the submit button to complete creating the event. Thats it. 4: Creating Pages Click on create content then page. The URL in the address bar will now end in /node/add/page . Complete the following fields: a) Title: The name of the page. The title (without some common words) will be used to form the address/URL of the page. Keep this under 60 characters as othersie the title will wrap and look unslightly. Please check when you are finished to enusrte that the title is only on one line. Do not prefix title with lecture this will become claer from the context. b) User Type allowed to amend this page: If there are more than one user types available select the most appropriate. If user type X is chosen then only users of type X plus the office and the site administrator will be able to change the page. Normally you will know if there are other users with the same user type or not ie someone will tell you. IMPORTANT: Choosing a user of type member (this option is not available to everyone) will mean that the page will only be available after logging in. e) Body: The page content. (Other fields/options may appear depending on permissions granted by the site administrator but this will be the exception rather than the rule. If they DO appear they can be ignored unless there is a specific requirement by you to use them.) Click the submit button to complete creating the page. Thats it. 5: Can I edit/change existing Events ?/ If you have been given the ability to create an event then you will be able to edit/change any event. Assuming you have the ability to create events to edit/change an event go to that event and you will see an Edit option near the top of the screen. Click this, make the necessary changes and then click the submit button to save. 6: Can I edit/change existing Pages ? If you have been given the ability to create a page then you will be able to change some pages. The precise pages which can be changed is governed by the user types available to you when creating the page ie you can change only pages created by users who have the same user type. In practice to change a page go to that page. If an edit button appears click that, make the changes (however never change the title of a page or event which already exists )then click the submit button to save the changes. No edit button means no changes can be made to that page. 7: I can't edit a page but it needs to be changed what do I do ? Inform the office of the position and they will be able to make the change(s). 8: I want to include an image/picture Including images/pictures is absolutely essential for a proper web page in what is after all a visual medium. At the moment please send all images to webadmin1926@littleshipclub.co.uk for uploading. It is intended in the future to make the ability to upload images available to a just a few users who need this facility and to the office as a backup.
