Renowned for adrenalin-fuelled
stadium sailing, 12 teams lined up for the start and delivered nothing less
in front of huge crowds. For the 12 skippers it was an opening salvo of
close calls, nose-dives and near misses. At the end of the day it was the
French team Groupe Edmond de Rothschild who were on top of the leaderboard. With plenty of more breeze to come this was just the start of what promises to be an epic week.
