Content: This is a course that will introduce the student to navigation and safety at sea and is ideal for those who have recently developed an interest in boating, are at Competent Crew level of the RYA Scheme or operate a small power boat for fishing or diving.

It covers charts and publications, safety, buoyage, tidal awareness, basic navigation and pilotage, rules of the road, electronic navigation, anchoring, weather forecasts and passage planning.

Suggested minimum pre-course experience: None.

Assumed knowledge: None.

Ability after course: A basic awareness and understanding of navigation and safety.
