It has been announced that the London Yacht Show, due to take place in St. Katharine Docks from Wednesday 8th May until Sunday 12th May 2019 has been postponed until 2020 due to lack of interest and support from boat show exhibitors and maritime companies.
The London Yacht Show was originally called the London-on-Water Show but was rebranded in December 2018 when they changed the 4-day event to a 5-day show. While it gained support from top luxury yachting brands, the organisers felt that it wasn't enough to create an enjoyable and valuable show for visitors.Andrew Williams, President of the Maritime Group said:
"Since an initial burst of interest in the London Yacht Show, take-up has slowed from some segments of the industry and from luxury brands. And so, with just over a month to go until the planned launch, overall commitment to the event is not at the level required to deliver a show with the profile, scale and market breadth the industry asked for and deserves in London."
The organisers will now be focusing on delivering the event in May 2020.
While it is sad news that there will not be a London boat show for us to attend this year, it is not stopping the Little Ship Club from attending boat shows elsewhere! The Club attended the Thames Valley and London Boat Show in Chertsey from 12th April - 14th April, where visitors came to learn about the Club and the sailing, training, and social opportunities that we provide.
