Introduction

Celebrate 100 years of sailing with the Little Ship Club with a cruise in good company in the beautiful Golfe du Morbihan, in Southern Brittany, France.

Meeting in La Trinité-sur-Mer, we will visit medieval Vannes, with its cobbled street, colourful houses on Place des Lices and Roman and Gothic cathedral.

We will anchor by stunning beaches, relish the delicious local salted butter and visit some of the 40 islands dotting 'Ar Mor Bihan', 'the Little Sea' . With its strong tidal currents and water speeds which can reach up to 9 knots, it is just the place to test navigation skills!

Outline Itinerary

Friday 24th July: Meet at Tony Vlasto's for pre-dinner drinks
Day-1 Saturday 25th July: Sail La Trinité-sur-Mer to Port Haliguen (Quiberon). 6.2M
Day-2 Sunday 26th July: Sail to Houat. 7M
Day-3 Monday 27th July: Sail to Morbhian (Auray River, anchoring). 7M
Day-4 Tuesday 28th July: Sail to Ile aux Moines (or Ile d'Arz) 20M
Day-5 Wednesday 29th July: Sail to Vannes marina. 10M
Day-6 Thursday 30th July: Lay Day in Vannes. 60th birthday drinks for A Day at the Races.
Last Supper at Restaurant Fraya
Day-7 Friday 31st July: Return to La Trinité-sur-Mer. End of Cruise. Own arrangements for the evening.

Car Parking

Car parking at La Trinité-sur-Mer is restricted during the summer season but free long-term parking is available for people sailing in and out of the port.

There is a private car park about 1.5 km from the marina pier where parking is free provided you have pre-registered with Port of Morbhian. The car park address is: Zone Artisanal de Kaermarquer, Rue de Cabestan, 56470, La Trinité-sur-Mer. A free shuttle bus will take you between the port pier and the car park.

The car park barrier uses number plate recognition to let you into the car park. To register your car, contact the port office a few days before you arrival; their details are:

Crew wanted requests

Im looking to charter from Hamble Point and looking for 3, possibly 4, more to share the cost. My plan is to pick the boat up Friday 17 July, depart 18 July for Cherbourg where we clear into France. Then Lézardriex, L’Aberac, Brest where a crew change is possible. From Brest stop in one or two ports before arriving in La Trinité-sur-Mer for start of Rally. Then return stopping at a couple of different ports before Brest where another crew change is possible. Then clear out of France at Roscoff, to Channel Islands then back to Hamble. The boat charter is £8087 so between 4 that works out at £2044 for 3 weeks or pro-rata if doing a portion of the cruise. I’m a qualified Yachtmaster Offshore, an RYA shore based instructor, have in excess of 14000 miles including as navigator on the Fastnet Race and have raced, again as navigator, to La Trinité from Cowes. My only drawback is I’m a bit long in the tooth now and would prefer some (but not all) younger crew with gorilla tendencies to do most of the winching!
