Vendée Globe race report 11/11/20

3D images give realistic wave action from Silverita foiling at 18 knots.

In the Vendée Globe round the world single handed yacht race a battering from 30-40 knot winds and a 90 degree wind shift caused some damage to at least two of the 33 boat fleet on the first Monday night and Tuesday morning. The 700,000 skippers in the Virtual Regatta fleet are now spreading out as they also try to negotiate the chessboard of fronts and lows currently replacing the more normal trade winds. Tropical Storm Theta is directly in the path of the fleet.

Amongst the LSC boats GBL2386L (Andy Ormsby) is the most southerly and together with Golf Bravo Hotel (Greg Hirst), Silver Sadler (Pete Hampson) and Silverita (Martin Sandford) are in the front of the second group (with Hugo Boss), all chasing Goldfinger1 sailed by our president Mike Golding. A Day at the Races (Barrie Martin) and SolidBear (Leigh Gibson) trail 140 miles behind Andy.
