Eileen Ramsay - Queen of Yachting Photography
The fifties and sixties were exciting times in yachting and Eileen Ramsay was in the forefront capturing that scene. She established herself as one of the most respected photographers of her day. Not restricting herself to yachts alone she also covered dinghy racing, motorboat racing and even portraiture of famous yachtsman. Though our own Sir Robin is absent from these pages.
Shooting with a Rollifex, mainly in black and white, she captured very dramatic shots by leaning over the gunwales with the camera almost in the water.
A very well designed book with mostly full-page reproductions of her iconic pictures. It also features tributes from those same sailors she photographed long ago. An easy read and a delightful picture book.
