This book is not just the story of how 'Blue Pearl', a 36 ft Oyster was built and sailed to the Mediterranean by a retired couple, but also a memorial to the author's wife, Joan. It is the logs and the extracts from Joan's diaries that make this book.

Some of the descriptions of places they visited around the 'Inland Sea' are truly descriptive. Many that I have visited bring back vibrant memories. It is well worth persevering to find out the difficulties and traumas they faced together and to hear about the friendships they made with yachtsmen they encountered on their voyaging.
