corinthians and lsc burgeesThe Corinthians is a non-commercial membership association of over five hundred amateur yachtsmen and women (beginners and experts) based on the east coast of the US.

Its primary objectives are to promote sailing, to encourage good fellowship among yachtmen afloat and ashore, and to introduce non-boat-owning amateur sailors and boat-owners needing crew, in other words very like the LSC but unlike us they do not have their own clubhouse.

Members organise sailing and shorebased events around their 'fleets' and once per year meet up for a cruise together. Every two years this is held in conjunction with the LSC.
The links between the two clubs were developed by Clint Springer. He made several attempts to persuade both Clubs to sail together and finally succeeded in 1995 when the Chesapeake Fleet offered 15 places on their boats to members of the LSC for a week's cruise in May.

Every place was taken within an hour. We offered them a return invitation to spend a slightly cooler, wetter week in the Solent in 1996. And the connection has gone from strength to strength. We have now settled into the current biannual joint cruise. Locations include Normandy in 2000, the Chesapeake in 2006 and plans for Maine in 2010 with its lobster pots and lighthouses.
