The Club Celebrates the Coronation of King Charles III with a "coronation" talk by Steve Riedlinger - Tuesday 2nd May

Meet “The man who invented the pilot book”.
To celebrate the dawning of a new Caroline era, we shall be having a special Coronation Dinner on Tuesday 2 May.
The Commanding Officer and a party from the London University Royal Naval Unit will perform the tradition of evening colours for us.
Before that, Steve Riedlinger, archivist at Roehampton Club (Sir Ernest Shackleton’s old club), will give us a talk on the life and works of Frank Cowper. Frank was a founding member of the Little Ship Club and led a strikingly unconventional life.
Before he began his odyssey, pilotage information was in the hands of the professionals only; Frank wrote pilots for leisure sailors and began something that sailors everywhere now take for granted.
Steve’s wife is a descendant of Frank and they have recently unearthed an archive of Frank’s materials, which they will share with us for the first time.
Come and celebrate a new reign and see how the Little Ship Club helped to transform the world of sailing.
