Chris Burgess is the Chief Engineer for the European Space Agency's FORUM satellite, developed and manufactured by Airbus Defence and Space. For over six decades the Airbus Defence and Space site in Stevenage has been a lynchpin for the development and construction of Telecommunications, Scientific, Earth Observation and Meteorology Satellites. This talk will describe the navigational techniques used for Earth orbiting and interplanetary satellites, along with the similarities between navigating on the water and navigating amongst the stars.
