Everyone knows that Napoleon was exiled to the island of St Helena where he ended his days but why, and how, he went there, what happened while he was there and how he finally finished up in Les Invalides in Paris is much less well known and is one of the most extraordinary stories of the 19th century.

Kit Power visited the island in 2017 and will tell the whole story of Napoleon's exile, the vastly expensive measures that were taken to make sure he stayed there and some of the futile schemes which were hatched to rescue him.
