Open Evening & Talk: Good Food Afloat

Di Murrell worked her barges, bringing up her two sons on the water with her husband, travelling across England carrying sand, grain, coal, barrels of lime. They have also extensively travelled the waterways of Europe in their Dutch motor barge. During this time, her interest in good food afloat has never wavered.
Di will talk about her working life on the Thames and her recently published book, 'Barges & Bread: Canals & Grain to Bread & Baking'; a history of watermen, lightermen and dockers, with recipes for bread for the boating enthusiast and the home baker. Buy it now for the overworked and underpaid galley slave!
Winner of the Sophie Coe Prize for food history, Di writes for French travel magazines and Petit Propos Culinaires.
