RYA VHF Short Range Certificate Course and Examination - CLASSROOM COURSE
RYA VHF Short Range Classroom Course
If you own a fixed or hand held marine radio you are required by law to hold an operators licence and if you are up-grading your installation to include a Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) radio you will need a new license.
The course for the Short Range Certificate (SRC) is taught in the Classroom. If you would prefer to do our online course click here. Once the course has been completed the final examination will be taken at the club using modified DSC radios. The required course materials, which are included in the course costs, are available as a booklet or in electronic form to download to a tablet.
The course covers the use of marine radio including GMDSS. Routine, distress, urgency and safety procedures.
The SRC Course is run by the RYA but administered by Little Ship Club. The classroom course has two separate fees:
- one for the actual course & assessment
- one for the exam, THIS MUST BE PAID DIRECT TO THE RYA
The fees are:
Classroom Course: £125 for non-members and £100 for members (the Classroom course INCLUDES the assessment. Please do not book the assessment separately)
Exam: £60 (paid direct to the RYA).
When you come in to the Club for the course you need to bring:
- a passport sized photograph
