Spend an Evening at the Club on 15th September for a short presentation and discussion on suggested ideas to help the Club’s fortunes. Just a few clever improvements will make us profitable, and then able to be more effective in serving the members, improve the range of sailing activities and training, attract more and better speakers and make the very best of the Club as a great boating hub as well as a great venue to be at in the heart of London.

It’s your Club, use it or lose it.

Already members have come forward with lots of new ideas and we now need yours

AT THE CLUB

Increased and Better Club Usage:

1.       Bringing guests at lunchtime.

2.       More awareness and so usage of the Club’s fine catering (website improvements will help this).

3.       Diversifying the menu e.g. Fish Friday (We already have daily deliveries from Billingsgate).

4.       Availability of the Club for hire at concessional rates for members and their guests.

5.       Special day delegate, reunion, summer and Christmas combined packages

6.       Sailing pictures on menus.

7.       Competitive cabin hire and breakfast rates – especially at weekends

8.       A strong off season talks programme with experienced and knowledgeable speakers.

9.       Closer affiliations with Clipper Ventures.

10.   RYA training courses and practical courses beyond the normal syllabus.

11.   Webbased theoretical training and links to practice.

12.   Distance learning.

13.   Reinstating website knowledge base.

14.   Improve mobile access to the website.

15.   Greater collaboration with other sailing organisations. Closer arrangements with reciprocal clubs.

On the Water

1.       Making it easier to link skippers and crews initially using the website but also following this up to help crews to get together to become a  good company team with compatible boating experience.

2.       Links to training schools.

3.       Participating in (and organising) rallies.

4.       Forming groups to charter boats, sometimes at concessional rates reflecting training and experience.

5.       Taster days e.g. on Thames barge, cockle boat etc.

6.       Greater collaboration with other sailing organisations

OtherCloser collaboration with our many neighbours in the City of London and the facilities we share with the City Livery Club.

1.                   Expand our ability to plan for a longer term programme of events and activities.

2.                   Celebrate our 90th anniversary in 2016.

3.                   YOUR IDEA

We need you to help the small number of staff and dedicated volunteers often with wide and professional experience who give their time and expertise for free. Not everyone has much time these days. Many live long distances from the Clubhouse but offering to help with a single suggestion or simple short task will make a big difference and ensure that little effort will get us into the black and keep us there.

IT’S WORTH 5 MINUTES THOUGHT TO RAISE OUR STANDARDS. If you have any ideas please contact Drummond Robson
