Virtual Club Night - 28 April 2020

This evening we had a very interesting short talk with slides from Rob Smith, a specialist historical guide from Footprints of London, on the formation and development of the East India Docks during the expansion of the British Empire by the East India Company. A copy of his slide show is attached as a PDF.
He traced its heyday through to its final decline before WWII, and its last gasp as a location for the construction of the Mulberry Harbours for the D-Day Landings. We are sure that all those who logged in enjoyed it. He has offered to organise a walking tour for Club members of the sites in east London to which he referred once the lockdown is over. Many thanks, Rob.
