We’ll be visiting Tower Lifeboat Station, the RNLI’s lifeboat station on the River Thames in central London. Based beneath Waterloo Bridge, the station provides 24-hour search and rescue cover along a busy stretch of the Thames and was created following the Thames safety reforms after the 1989 Marchioness disaster. The station is staffed by a mix of volunteer and full-time crew and responds to incidents ranging from people in the water to emergencies on river traffic. The visit will include an illustrated talk about RNLI both generally and at Tower - RNLI's busiest followed by a crew conducted tour.
