The Little Ship Club Library
Come in and browse
We warmly encourage members to come in and browse – particularly on a Tuesday evening when you are most likely to find it open and the Librarian at work
Our catalogue
You can view our catalogue here
Our collection
We have a small but comprehensive collection of specialist books on all aspects of boats and boating.
Some of these books have been in the Club's possession since its foundation in 1926 and make fascinating reading; whilst some are the latest publications.
Borrow a book
If there is no one about, you will find instructions on how to find a book and how to borrow a book in the Sign Out Shelf in the right-hand bookcase.
There is a Blue Folder which contains a printout of the Catalogue and a brown Borrowing Log where you can record the book you wish to borrow.

New Arrivals
This is a new section.
New text is needed to introduce the subject.
There needs to be text describing all new arrivals, possibly with and image of the book.
Include a request for people to review the new books, with a click through link which allows and email to be sent to the librarian.
[In the longer term, consideration could be given to have a book review request system, similar to Skippers & Crew, but this needs more though and will not be implemented now.]

Book reviewers needed!
The library receives a steady supply of new books from publishers who like to see reviews of their new publications. The reviews published on the website also act as a quasi on-line catalogue. If you would like to become one of our reviewers contact us now.
Researchers welcome
We are very happy to make our archive of older books available in the Club house for research both to members and also to non-members.
In the past this resource has been used by television broadcasters, writers and marine institutions. Contact us here
Gifts and donations
We rarely buy books. Our stock comes to us through the kindness and generosity of our members, who are downsizing, maritime institutions and marine publishers. We would like to recognise the contribution made by Bloomsbury Press (part of Adlard Coles Publications), Imray, Fernhurst Books and Whittles Publishing. Most recently Tim and Anne Bizzey have donated some of their collection of cruising guides to Scotland and the North East of England.
This year the Library has benefited from a bequest from the estate of Marten Van Mesdag, which included his collection of books on historic boats and boat building on the US East Coast, the gift of a magnificent copy of the Americas Cup Designs 1851-1989 by Ian Bucknell of London, and The Cruising Guide to Narrangansett Bay by Dave McConnell of New England . Earlier benefactors have been John Hanford of Berkshire, Mr Bob Taylor of Lincolnshire,
