Club member Alja Schmidt-van Dorp is to cross the Channel to raise money for Help for Heroes and hopes for strong support from other club members. Alja will be crossing the Channel on Nellie of Hythe as part of a six member all female crew. Nellie is a Hanse 411.

Ladieswholaunch

Alja and her fellow crew members have accepted the challenge set by ladieswholaunch, a group formed by members of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club. Ladieswholaunch have organised a flotilla of all female boats to make the crossing on 29 May from Lymington to Cherbourg, in support of Help for Heroes. 10 boats have signed up so far.

We're delighted Alja is participating in this event for such a great cause and look forward to hearing and reading about her adventure on her return.
