Juno: Boat Organisation

Juno normally races offshore with a crew of 6-7 people and on longer races usually runs a watch system allowing those off watch to go below to rest. The crew roles below reflect boathandling requirements for "set-piece" manouvres such as spinnaker hoist/drop and gybe.
However, on longer offshore races on a smaller boat such as Juno there is usually ample opportunity for all those who want to get involved with helming or take an interest in the race navigation to do so.
Boathandling positions are: 1 Bow and 2 Mast (collectively known as "foredeck").
Work together to handle spinnaker gear downwind and skirt jib when tacking.
Mast helps gybe the mainsail, with "German" mainsheet system. 3 Pit - works at the fore edge of the cockpit - effectively is the link between foredeck and cockpit. Handles all halyards, reefing lines / main outhaul and control lines for spinnaker pole, vang and cunningham. 4
& 5 (&6) Trimmers/grinders - work jib and spinnaker sheets and guys, mainsheet/traveller and backstay. 6 (or7) Helm - has final say on timing of manouvres - as needs to keep boat under control at all times.
