Latest from Brittany Friday 1 July

Successful first cruise dinner in Camaret this evening (Friday 1 July) postponed a day because of weather in the Channel and Mary Lunn's tribulations. Robin and Barrie came over by car from l'Aberwrac'h. Other boats arrived safely after a flat calm and sunny passage through the Chenal du Four.
Plans are progressing on fitting Mary Lunn with a jury rudder to enable her to rejoin the cruise and get home for full repairs. How about that for an example of true British spirit, refusing to be defeated by the small matter of losing one's rudder! I think the Little Ship Club's founders would heartily approve.
Also on a positive note, Jérôme Renier, the marina manager in l'Aberwrac'h was so helpful and also so interested in the club that a proposal will be put forward to make him an HPO. Everyone seems to have thoroughly enjoyed their visit to his marina and the town.
Onwards tomorrow, some to Audierne, some direct to Loctudy. Let's hope the weather and better luck both hold out for them.
