HRH Princess Anne will open the British sailing team's new home at RYA Portland House on April 7, where the team will be based in the build up to the 2012 Olympics.  After touring the new Portland marina and Skandia Team GB's performance unit, she will have a chance to watch over 250 of the country's top young sailors taking part in the youth national championships.

Sarah Treseder, RYA's CEO, said: “We’re delighted that HRH The Princess Royal will be joining us to show her continued support for the RYA by opening RYA Portland House, which will play an integral part in preparations for our sailors at the 2012 games as well as providing a lasting legacy for sailing in the country.”

The RYA Volvo Youth National Championships get underway on Monday 5 April, so will be in full swing by the royal visit. Principal race officer, David Campbell-James added: “It’s fantastic to have HRH’s support once again for the event which is one of the most important regattas for young sailors in the country. Having visited us in Largs last year where conditions forced the cancellation of racing for the royal visit, we hope the weather in Weymouth will allow young competitors to showcase their skills in front of HRH and provide some exciting racing for her to enjoy."
