Charlie first became a member of RORC in 1985 and did most of his RORC racing aboard Robin Aisher's Yeomans’ and Mike Peacock's Junos’. He then worked for the RYA running their match racing boats for six years and coaching young match racers and keelboat sailors. Now he's an Atlantic rowing record holder.

Having read a book on ocean rowing, Charlie was inspired to have a go himself and entered the Woodvale Atlantic Rowing Race. With his racing background as a tool, he put together an intensive 2 year campaign and entered the 2009 race which started in the Canaries and finished in Antigua. In a fleet with 71 rowers, he crossed the finish line after 52 days becoming the first ever solo boat to win the race overall and breaking the British record for a solo crossing.

On arriving in Antigua, he was able to mix with all the RORC Carribean 600 friends and share stories.

Now back at work in London, Charlie is planning his next campaign on the water which is offshore and involves sails.
