RSYC are taking a leaf out of the LSC's book and running a combined 'Race/Rally' this year. The Gin's Race/Rally on 21st May looks a little more competitive than LSC's Fast Cruises. But the idea of mixing gentle competition with a social event and producing a fun day out for all types of sailor in the late spring is one we hope will appeal to our own members.

RSYC keeps LSC up to date with all its events and, from time to time, we promote them to members. They have a strong marketing ethic and understand who they are appealing to and where and how to reach those sailors.

Perhaps there is something we could learn from them? Perhaps we should wonder whether to promote our own Fast Cruises to them and to RSrnYC, ISC, RLYC and Royal Solent YC as they do? What do you think? Leave a comment below. (You must be logged in to comment).

Saturday 21st May 2011

  • 1 race starting Central Solent 1000
  • Racing will include an interesting mix of short and long legs
  • Entries open to IRC, RSYC and Multies
  • Will include a White Sail Cruiser Class

 

The racing will end near the Beaulieu River mid-afternoon at high water and will be followed by Supper, prizes and fun at Gins Clubhouse Saturday evening.

Race / Rally Entry Fees:

  • RSYC Members: £32 if received by Wednesday 11 May or £41 thereafter.
  • Non-Members: £38 if received by Wednesday 11 May or £50 thereafter.

If you don't have a rating or a class certficiate the racing Cttee will rate your boat with an RSYC rating when you have provided the basic details of your yacht and sails. Talk to Cathy Crawley.

IRC Rule 22.4.2 shall not apply.
There will be no limitations on crew number or weight except as required for boats rated as one designs which shall comply with IRC Rule 22.4.1.
