Today (Saturday 17 September) at the PSP Southampton Boat Show the RYA unveiled their brand new RYA eBooks for the iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch® which you can download through the new FREE ‘RYA Books’ app, available from the App StoreSM*.

RYA Product Development Manager Steen Ingerslev officially announced the books were available to purchase and was joined by author of one of the new eBooks Jon Mendez who told us just how great the app was from both an authors’ point of view and as an instructor, using the animations and videos to bring teaching points to life.

 
The team from Yudu who worked with the RYA to develop the app and develop the books were also on hand to give live demos of the books on ipads, allowing visitors the opportunity to try the technology out for themselves.

Brendan Cusack who has recently taken his RYA Powerboat level 2 course commented: “These new apps are really very good. They really bring the books to life, are user friendly and give you a fantastic step by step guide through different activities.“Being able to have this information so easily at hand on a small device like the ipad or on my iphone, which I always have with me, means it’s easy to put in my kit back and saves me carrying around lots of books and I can access it easily even out on the water.”

 “So far we are just working with Apple products but we are already looking at providing the books via Android devices for later this year”, concluded Steen.
