The Skippers and Crew service for Club members aims to help skippers find crew and crew find skippers to sail with. When you're at the Club, find one of the team to help you get sailing (if you're crew) or to get your boat off the pontoon (if you're a skipper).

Here are some of the ways members can make use of the Skippers and Crew system to get more out of Club membership.

  • The website Noticeboard (in the members only section) allows members to post requests for crew (if you're a skipper) or find opportunities to sail (if you're crew). Keep an eye on new posts which are featured in the Web Bulletin issued to members on Thursdays once every three weeks.
  • Every member of the Club has a Profile on the website. Your website member profile allows you to fill in your 'Qualifications and Experience'. Click on the edit tab and you will find a category called 'Qualifications and Experience' with a series of check boxes. It is worth filling this in as prospective Skippers or Crew can check out your suitability when you put a post on the Noticeboard.
  • Social networking - nothing beats a bit of face to face interaction, most members get invited to go sailing by sidling up to a potential skipper at the bar. Get along to the Club on a Tuesday night and make yourself known to the Skippers and Crew team representative if you want some help with making introductions. You can also use Facebook or Twitter to make contact, find us on Facebook at the Little Ship Club page or follow us on Twitter @littleshipclub1
  • Find out what events are coming up at the Club - if you make yourself known to a rally or Fast Cruise organiser, they will often know of boats with spare berths which are participating in the event.
  • Skippers, if you enter an event, let the rally organiser know what spare crew capacity you have on board so you can enable new members to get sailing.
