In November 2010, the Social Committee issued a questionnaire seeking your views on the type of social events members would like. Questions about Club catering and accommodation were also asked.

The key feedback was as follows:

  • Themed events such as the fitting out supper, celebrity speakers and the carol service continue to be popular.
  • Members would like more events involving other sailing clubs and organisations.
  • The Tuesday evening lectures should have less internal events an more lectures on sailing techniques, technologies and changing regulations.
  • With the Club suppers there were request for more variety of food options, e.g. Thai, Indian. In addition many members would prefer less formal dining options, especially in the summer months.
  • People like to receive information from the club by a variety of means, with members preferring to recieve about 50% of communication elecronically (email and the web site) and the remainder through flyers, the annual calendar, post and parish notices.
  •

The Social Committee will take account of all the feedback when planning future events. As some events are organised over six months in advance, changes will occur gradually.
