The membership committee is launching a "buddy" scheme to involve new members in the Club's activities. We're looking for established members who would like to meet up with a new member on a Tuesday clubnight. The established members would share their experiences as a Club member and introduce the new/newish members to other members with similar boating interests.

How would it work?

Buddies will be matched with new members with similar boating interests by Dean and Rachel Brennan on a named basis. The buddy will then make direct contact with the new member and arrange to meet them on a clubnight and make them welcome.  We want our new members to join in with our events and activities. We also want them to meet familiar faces on a clubnight. The buddy's aim is to help make that happen.

But what about the new members' officer on a Tuesday night and Skippers and Crew?

 The Buddy Scheme is not a substitute for the new members' officer, as the new members' officer is there to help all new or potential new members. There will still be a new members' officer on a clubnight. The buddy will focus on their individual new member. The Buddy Scheme will work alongside Skippers and Crew to help make it easier for new or recent members to get actively involved in the Club.

Why are we doing it?

 Sadly a number of members do not renew their membership because they have not been able to get involved in club activities. This might be because they have been coming to a training class and don't know anyone to talk to on a Tuesday clubnight when their class ends. Or perhaps they just did not meet anyone who seemed to share their boating interests. Or perhaps they just wanted some help in meeting a room full of strangers...

Whatever the reason, we have a club to be proud of so let's show it off to new members and make them welcome.
