Winner of I Love Sailing announced at PSP Southampton Boat Show

Under an arch of balloons, at an exclusive screening on the RYA Stand, the winner of the ‘I Love Sailing’ Facebook video competition was unveiled at the PSP Southampton Boat Show today ( Saturday 17 September).
The competition called all sailors, windsurfers and budding filmmakers to capture what they love about sailing on camera, and to share their videos with their Facebook friends for the chance to win a Go Pro Camera, a MacBook Pro with Final Cut editing equipment and £200 of RYA vouchers to spend on a sailing course.
The five film-making finalists were joined by guest judges Gael Pawson editor of Yachts and Yachting Magazine and Phil de Glanville, ex England International rugby player, to watch their films which have been all been selected as ‘videos of the month’ throughout the competition.
Finally the moment arrived for Graham Manchester,Coordinator of the 'I Love Sailing’ competition to announce the winning video which was by Chris Videlo. Chris's entry consisted of a fantastic compilation of footage from his season at Waldringfield Sailing Club.
Unfortunately, in true award ceremony fashion, Chris was unable to attend the final as he was busy out on the water competing at a sailing competition.
“All of the films were excellent so it was extremley difficult to make a decision” said Phil de Glanville who accepted Chris’s award on his behalf.
“Chris was chosen as the’ I Love Sailing’ winner because we believe his film appeals to a very wide audience and would really inspire others to get out on the water” he continued.
Graham Manchester said: “We are delighted to announce Chris as the ‘I Love Sailing’ winner and we hope he continues to enjoy making sailing videos using his new equipment.
“The competition has been a huge success with 113 videos entered and just under 2,000 Active users last month so we are very grateful to everyone who submitted a film. We aim to use all of the video footage to help to promote the sport and to encourage even more people to get out on the water and to go sailing more often.”
