Channel Pilot Cruise from Dover to Scilly - A Cruise with Bagheera - June and July 2023

David Clements was given an 1855 Pilot’s Guide to the English Channel. This is a fascinating book which tells you how the Channel Pilots navigated up the Channel from the Scillies to the Downs (basically to Dover and Deal); it was all done by lead line and transits – amazing when you consider that they were handling the lead line in anything up to 50 fathoms of water!
