Following her finish in the RORC St Malo race Juno and her crew have completed all the pre-entry requirements for the 2011 Rolex Fastnet Race.

Juno will be racing in the Fastnet with seven crew on board, of whom five are LSC members. As well as skipper Charles Whittam, Graham Broadway will be navigating, with Kate Newman in pit, Mark Blunden trimming and Simon Hughes on mast. Completing the round up are Seth Cooley (helm/trimmer) and Mark Smith (helm/bow). Juno's final outing before the Fastnet is next weekend's RORC Channel Race, with the full Fastnet crew taking part together.

As well as the 300 miles of RORC racing required of the team, 30% of the crew (including the skipper) must have completed the 2 day ISAF Offshore Safety course. In Juno's case 5 of the seven crew completed this in 2009 in preparation for racing Charles's old boat, Shadow, in the JOG offshore series that year. In addition there needs to be at least one person with a senior first aid certificate (eg RYA one day course) on board - Juno has 5 (including two fully qualified medics) so hopefully should not be short of clinical know-how.

The team are now busy with final preparations - navigation, boat and not forgetting food planning.

All boats in the Fastnet are equipped by the organisers with satellite tracking devices and after the race starts at 11.00 on Sunday 14 August you can follow Juno's progress (and the rest of the 350+fleet) by following this link:
