Despite the only entering four events at the opening round of the 2011/2012 ISAF World Ccp event in Melbourne, Team GBR took three podium places. Gold in the Skud18 and Silver in the Laser and RS:X.

Alexandra Rickham and Niki Birrell led the Skud 18 event from race one, counting five race wins they finished the ten race series four points clear of Daniel Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch of Australia, with Jamie Dunross and Rachael Cox, Australia, in third.

Not such a happy finish for Britain's Bryony Shaw in the women's RS:X event. Shaw started the medal race with a two points lead over Jessica Crisp of Australia, but the Australian veteran took the medal race with Shaw second. This tied the overall points and gold went to Crisp with Shaw taking the silver and Flavia Tartaglini of Italy the bronze. Izzy Hamilton finished fifth and Claudia Carney eighth.

In the Laser, Australian Tom Slingsby had already won the gold and confirmed his victory with a first in the medal race. Britain's Nick Thompson took the silver and Tom Burton of Australia the bronze. Slingsby will now join Darren Bundock on the AC-45 at the AC World Series in San Diego before the Perth Worlds.

In the women's Radial, Alison Young missed a podium place by one point. A great effort in the medal race by Young to take second, but Krystal Weir of Australia finished third to clinch the bronze by one point. Gold went to Lijia Xu of China with Tuula Tenkanen of Finland taking the silver. Team GBR Andrea Brewster and Chloe Martin did not make the medal race.
