What's new in the Library

Cruising Guides
If you are making plans for summer sailing, we have a wide selection of cruising guides and pilot books in the Library Data section.
You are welcome to come in and read and make notes in the Library.
If you are going on the Dalmatia cruise, we have both of Rod Heikell's new books on Mediterranean cruising.
If you are going on the Lot River Cruise, we have French Inland Waterways.
Other recent additions to our collection on inland waterways are: Comprehensive Guide to the Canals of Britain – the second edition by Stuart Fisher and the Guide to the Barrow.
Several of the latest pilots produced by the RCC Pilotage Foundation are now on the shelves:
- The fully revised 6th Edition of Atlantic Spain and Portugal which covers Coruna to Gibraltar by Anne Hammick and
- The fully revised 5th Edition of Atlantic Islands, which covers, the Azores, Madeira, the Canaries and Cape Verde
As is usual these days, updates and supplements can be downloaded from the publishers website: www.imray.com and also via www.rccpf.org.uk
Maintenance
Still catching up on maintenance, we would thoroughly recommend you come and look at is the Adlard Coles Maintenance Logbook – for both sail and power - with a view to buying a copy to keep on board. Some of the information is just plain commonsense, but it is the format that is most helpful. It is a terrific aide memoire for anything and everything you need to do to keep your boat in good condition. Come and have a look at it!
January Sales
We are making space for the new books coming in this year. We are doing this gradually by making some of our old books available for members to purchase at unbelievably low prices. Proceeds go to the RNLI and the OYT. We have a variety of practical books on boat maintenance and sailing/navigation and a number of ripping yarns both fictional and biographical, but not enough space on the shelves for all of them.
They are all pre-loved and slightly battered, but none the worse for that.
Email the Librarian if there is something you are particularly looking for and cannot get to the Club this coming Tuesday. Prices better than Amazon and without the p&p!
For a Short Time Only
We have the use of the Guide to the Barrow published by Waterways Ireland. Tim Ryan, HPO Ireland, has very kindly loaned us his copy which makes a very useful addition to our stock of information about the Irish inland Waterways system. If anyone is planning a holiday on the Irish lakes, rivers and canals we have sufficient information to answer most of your queries whether you are boating, angling or walking.
