Open Evening and Talk:The Royal institute of Navigation

An Open Evening for new and prospective members.
On behalf of the Royal Institute of Navigation, Lance Godfroy (Navionics) and Gavin Ashworth (Yachting Software) will jointly deliver a talk.
Lance Godefroy has over 20 years experience as General Manager of Navionics in the marketing and development of electronic navigation charts and systems for maritime use.
Gavin Ashworth was a PhD in Electrochemistry from the University of Southampton and having made a career in a number of industries has been running his own companies developing and distributing PC based software and providing interim management services for the maritime industry since 2004.
The talk will focus on the latest developments in electronic chart systems and the use of NavigationPLANNER and PC Plotter software for tidal, route and weather planning and the processing of and overlay of navigation data, including AIS onto Navionics charts. The talk will also cover new features, such as the synchronisation of Theyr weather forecasts with tidal data to enable wind over tide to be quickly identified.
